Supervision

  • Supervision at a ratio of at least 1 hour for each 5 hours of experience, for a total of not less than 200 hours concurrent with the 1,000 hours.
  • Not less than 100 hours must be individual supervision with no more than one other supervisee present. The rest may be group supervision of no more than six supervisees with one supervisor.
  • The statute requires supervision in face-to-face contact.

Time limits

  • The rule states no minimum or maximum period for the 1,000 hours.
  • A limited license is renewed annually.

What Accrue checks

  • Counts direct client contact toward 1,000 hours, and couple and family sessions logged in person, or with no modality recorded, toward 500. Couple and family sessions logged as video or phone are not counted toward the 500.
  • Counts supervision toward 200 hours, and counts individual and triadic supervision toward the 100 individual hours, since Michigan allows one other supervisee in individual supervision.
  • Warns when your supervision falls below one hour per 5 hours counted, supervision hours included, checked across all your hours rather than week by week. A warning never removes credit.

What Accrue does not check

  • The 300-hour practicum, which may be included in the 1,000, is not counted on this ledger.
  • The limited license term is not tracked. The rules say a limited license may not be renewed more than 5 times, while MCL 333.16903(3) says not more than 6 years.
